GoNoodle

 GoNoodle

I found GoNoodle on the second table of the “Top 15 Software Mentioned by Elementary vs Secondary Teachers.”  GoNoodle.com is a great resource for teachers to use that incorporates physical exercise in the classroom. There are games and activities for students of all ages when they need to burn up some energy. The website has short interactive videos for the students to use (Ofgang, 2021). This tool is mostly geared through the ages of K-5. There are many different topics the kids can choose from. Some of them are science, math, ELA, social studies, music, reading practice, and even Spanish (Ofgang, 2021).

Here is a video that will help one navigate GoNoodle.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyqnz2BbMNA

Ease of Use

GoNoodle is a very easy website to navigate. Teachers can easily see the topics, channels, activities and routines, and skills and knowledge at the top of the GoNoodle page. When teachers click on videos, they show what grade level they are best for and give other tags for teachers to look at. These tags are what the video is about. For example, one of the videos that I was looking at had a tag of wintertime (GoNoodle, 2022). The videos are laid out so teachers can understand what each of them are about without having to watch them. These videos are very easy to find. Overall, the GoNoodle website is very easy to use.

Versatility

The GoNoodle website is very versatile. This is because there are multiple different brain breaks to choose from that range in a variety of subjects. GoNoodle also has a tab that is called “skills and knowledge.” Here, teachers can find physical activities for students to participate in that are aligned with the curriculum. GoNoodle has language arts, math, reading practice, science, and social studies to choose from (GoNoodle, 2022). Kids can learn about the subjects that they have been taught in class in a way that is fun and allows them to get up and move. GoNoodle also has a section called “class routines” where the videos will help strengthen the student’s understanding of routines followed in class. GoNoodle also has topics that are for fun that the children can choose from. These are sports and teamwork, adventure awaits, expressing yourself, the great outdoors, and pop and bop just to name a few (GoNoodle, 2022). There is most likely a brain break activity that the teachers will be able to choose from that will compliment their lesson. As you can see, GoNoodle is very versatile with many different topics and videos to choose from.

Likelihood of Using

I am very likely to use GoNoodle. This is because the website is very versatile and offers kids a chance to be active in the classroom. I also like how easy the website was to navigate. Finally, I feel as if GoNoodle will enhance my teaching because this will be another way to teach the content to my students that may be more understandable to some of them because of their learning styles.

Connections to Course

This connects to the 7 events of instruction because it can be used for presenting the content and stimulating recall of prerequisite learning. GoNoodle can be used for presenting the content because there are videos on their website that can be used as supplementary materials for a lesson. For example, if a teacher is instructing on lines and angles, GoNoodle has a song that will help students understand what they are and remember them. This gives teachers another way to teach students the content that will reach the auditory and visual learners.

GoNoodle can be used for stimulating recall of prerequisite learning because teachers can access videos of subjects that students have already learned. This can serve as a fun review for the students where they get to move around. The videos will help solidify knowledge in student’s brains because they will get to review in a way that is fun and engaging.

This connects to the T in the TLC framework that is instructing. This is because GoNoodle can be used to help teachers educate students on content. This is a great supplementary tool for teachers to use that will help them in teaching the content they are instructing on. There is a page on the GoNoodle website that allows teachers to choose the grade level that they are teaching. After teachers select the grade level, GoNoodle will show teachers appropriate content for that grade level. This will help teachers instruct lessons because they will have easily accessible content that is appropriate for their specific grade level at the touch of their fingertips.
