Document Camea

 Doc Camera

This blog entry is about a tool that I am interested in from Dr. Wang’s PowerPoint about “T3PP Technologies for Resource and Blogging.” This was the third option on the hardware list to choose from.

The document camera is a tool that is used to project something onto the board for students to see. A teacher could take a book, a worksheet, or anything else and place it underneath the document camera. The camera allows the students to see what is being displayed more clearly.

Ease of Use

The document camera is fairly easy to use. Each document camera is different, but as soon as one gets the hang of using it, it is very easy. A teacher left a review on weareteachers.com about a document camera that they were using in the classroom. The teacher stated how simple the document camera was to use (Staake, 2021). The teacher also stated that the document camera just needed to be turned on and switched to the correct function on the computer to work (Staake, 2021). The link for the teacher’s review is provided below.  https://www.weareteachers.com/document-cameras/#:~:text=Real%20Review%3A%20%E2%80%9CI%20absolutely%20love,project%20it%20onto%20my%20board.

Here is another video that shows how to use a document camera.

Versatility

The document camera is very versatile. It can be used for many different activities in the classroom. IPEVO (2015) stated that the document camera is the master of multitasking. The document camera captures documents, textbooks, 3D projects, artwork, and devices with screens. The material will also be presented to a whole classroom. IPEVO (2015) also explained that there are many uses for it in the classroom. They can be used for distance learning, tutoring, e-learning videos, and cross-cultural exchanges (IPEVO, 2015). Document cameras can also help students that have a disability. For example, if students have a tough time seeing, they will be able to see the board a bit better using this document camera. Overall, the document camera is very versatile.

Overall likelihood of using it

I would say that I am very likely to use the document camera. This is because of how versatile and easy to use it is. I can use it for instruction in the classroom.

How it connects to course

This connects to the course for the Seven Events of Technology. This can be used for informing the learners of the objectives and presenting the content. The document camera can be used in both of these categories because it is so versatile.  The document camera can be used to inform the learners of the objective by using it to display the different learning objectives. Teachers can write the learning objectives on paper, on a model, or even on their textbook. The document camera can be used for presenting the content. For example, if the teacher is teaching a math lesson, they may use the textbook. The textbook could be displayed underneath the document camera. Or, the teacher could be teaching a lesson on the changing color of the leaves. The teacher then may lay a leaf underneath the document camera. The document camera could be used throughout the school day because it is so versatile. It can be used in every subject that is taught in the classroom.

The document camera could connect to the TLC framework for "T3-Instructing." This is because the document camera is mostly used for instruction because it displays materials the teachers want to use on the board.
