ALEKS

Image
ALEKS I found ALEKS in the paragraph right next to the RQ2 Technologies Software. ALEKS was the twelfth item that was on the list. ALEKS is a program that is adaptive for students to use. ALEKS offers more than just math instruction, it offers chemistry, statistics, business, and even behavioral programs (ALEKS, 2022).  ALEKS has students start by taking a pretest of a certain subject. Then, ALEKS uses the information that is given from the pretest to create a pie chart for kids. The goal of ALEKS is to completely fill in a pie chart because that means that all of the topics have been mastered. The pie chart will start with the topics that the pretest has already identified as mastered colored in. After students temporarily master some of the topics in their pie chart, ALEKS will have them take a knowledge check. If the students correctly answer the topics that were only temporarily mastered, they will permanently become part of the pie chart and students will not have to ke...

Nearpod

Image
Nearpod I found this technology in the RQ2 Technologies (Software) table. Nearpod is a tool used in the classroom that adds interactive activities to a lesson (Nearpod, 2021). This could be game-based quizzes, polls, and collaboration boards (Nearpod, 2021). If teachers decide to make students answer questions on Nearpod, they will be able to see how well the students performed. This will help the teacher see how effectively they are teaching the lesson. Nearpod even has pre-made lessons for teachers to choose from.  Here is a video about Nearpod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anTtMRaQLsM Ease of Use Nearpod is fairly easy to use. Rogowski (2021) stated that it may take some time for teachers to learn how to navigate Nearpod. This is because there are many different tools to use on this website. However, after users get the hang of the website, it is very easy to use. At first it would be helpful for teachers to do a tutorial on Nearpod because the website is so versatile....

Dreambox

Image
Dreambox  I found this tool in the RQN Technologies Software Table in Dr. Wang’s powerpoint. Dreambox is an online learning software that is focused on teaching math to elementary and secondary students (Dreambox, 2022). Dreambox adapts to each child that is in the classroom and drives each child’s learning by giving them concepts to work on that are appropriate for the level that they are at (Dreambox, 2022). Student progress is also tracked so teachers are aware as to how each of the students are doing. This will help teachers guide the instruction in the classroom because they will be aware of the concepts that the students need extra help on.  Here is a link on Dreambox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCMOEfi7Fvk Ease of Use Dreambox is a very easy tool to use. After talking to the teacher that I am volunteering for at Lincoln Heights, she stated that it is a very easy tool to use. This is because it is user friendly and simple to navigate. She said that she was ab...

GoNoodle

Image
GoNoodle I found GoNoodle on the second table of the “Top 15 Software Mentioned by Elementary vs Secondary Teachers.”  GoNoodle.com is a great resource for teachers to use that incorporates physical exercise in the classroom. There are games and activities for students of all ages when they need to burn up some energy. The website has short interactive videos for the students to use (Ofgang, 2021). This tool is mostly geared through the ages of K-5. There are many different topics the kids can choose from. Some of them are science, math, ELA, social studies, music, reading practice, and even Spanish (Ofgang, 2021).   Here is a video that will help one navigate GoNoodle.com https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyqnz2BbMNA Ease of Use GoNoodle is a very easy website to navigate. Teachers can easily see the topics, channels, activities and routines, and skills and knowledge at the top of the GoNoodle page. When teachers click on videos, they show what grade level they are ...

Kahoot

Image
Kahoot I chose Kahoot from the 4th table that was displayed in the “Top 15 Software Mentioned by Elementary vs Secondary Teachers.” This was in the Powerpoint, “T3PP Technologies for Resource and Blogging.” I chose this technology because I have played the Kahoot game quite a bit in high school. It was one of my favorite games and I thought it was great for review.  Kahoot is a learning platform that is game based. Teachers create their own learning games that can be based on any subject. It even comes in a variety of languages. For Kahoot, teachers will give students a pin number to join the game with after they pull up the Kahoot website. The students will then type this number in after they pull up the Kahoot website. Students will then play in an interactive game where they choose between multiple choice answers for questions that a teacher has made. Students will be able to place in the game by getting the most correct answers out of their peers. Students can place in t...

Microsoft Teams

Image
Microsoft Teams I chose Microsoft Teams because it is something that I am not too familiar with and I believe it could be beneficial in the future. I found Microsoft Teams on the 2nd RQ2 Technologies table that is for Microsoft located in the "T3PP Technologies for Resource and Blogging PowerPoint." Microsoft Teams is an app that is used for collaborative work. Microsoft (2022) stated that Microsoft Teams will help the team you are working with stay organized, informed, and connected. In Teams, you can chat with others in a group. One will also be able to create a calendar that syncs together (Microsoft, 2022). This makes it easier to connect with others. If you follow the link, there is a very beneficial video that explains what Microsoft Teams is.  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/get-started-with-microsoft-teams-b98d533f-118e-4bae-bf44-3df2470c2b12 Ease of Use Setting up teams is very easy. Teams has everything you need when it comes to messaging, file sharing,...

Google Slides

Image
Google Slides I found Google Slides on the Technologies Table in the PowerPoint, “T3PP Technologies for Resource and Blogging.” I chose Google Slides because this is a tool that I am familiar with and I really like.  Google Slides is a presentation program. Google Slides allows you to make PowerPoints that can be presented for free.  Ease of Use Google Slides are very easy to use. According to Ciccarelli (n.d.) Google Slides are as easy to use as PowerPoint and keynote. Google Slides also allow participants to share documents with others. Google Slides is actually known for its ease of use. This is because everything is laid out in a user-friendly way. There are many different options to choose from when it comes to Slides and they are easy to find.  Here is a link on how to use Google Slides: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o7wvajrAxUQ Versatility Google Slides are fairly versatile. This is because teachers can use it to plan out their days. It can be used as an age...
